Castell Dinas Bran Hike, Llangollen (4.5 km)

Castell Dinas Bran is an old castle ruin on a cone-shaped hill above Llangollen, visible from almost everywhere in the valley. This 4.5 km circular hike climbs about 300 metres, most of it in the final push to the top. Short, but steep enough to feel like a proper climb — and the views from the ruins are the reward.

- Start: Llangollen, near the town centre
- End: Llangollen (circular)
- Distance: About 4.5 km (2.8 miles)
- Terrain: Steep grassy paths and field tracks — a sustained climb on the final approach to the castle; muddy and slippery after rain or snow
The main track is easy to follow, but the upper slopes are exposed. A signpost marks the halfway point, and from there the path steepens noticeably. Sheep are often on the track, and it can be churned up by livestock.
