Snowdon Hike from Pen-y-Pass (12 km)

Snowdon is the busiest mountain in Wales for a reason. From Pen-y-Pass you can reach the top on well-maintained paths without any scrambling. This 12 km loop goes up via the Miners’ Track and comes back over the Pyg Track, with about 860 m of climbing.

- Start: Pen-y-Pass car park (book parking in advance in peak season)
- End: Pen-y-Pass (circular)
- Distance: About 12 km (7.5 miles)
- Terrain: Gravel paths, stone steps, and rocky sections near the top; steep in places but no scrambling on the main tracks
The Miners’ Track is the gentler start — wide and gradual along the lakes — before the climb steepens towards the top. The Pyg Track is shorter on the way down but rougher underfoot. Check the weather before you go; both paths are busy on summer weekends, so an early start helps.
